Our next foal came to us on April 8, 2019. Her name is “CRW Cuv’ee Claire” with Claire being her barn name. Her sire is WGC “Top of the Mark,” and her dam is our mare “Arrowhead’s Fancy Smancy,” known as Prada. She comes from a long line of champions as Prada’s sire is WC “Wine Women and Song.” Prada’s dam is WC “Deerhaven’s Fancy Filly.” We are looking for great things from this mare and very excited about her future.
Claire’s name comes from a small winery just north of St. Helena in Napa named William Cole Winery. The Bill Ballantine family owns the winery. Bill has a son named Cole, thus the name of William Cole winery. His wife is Jane Marie, and they source chardonnay grapes from the southern Carneros AVA region of Napa and call the wine Jane Marie Chardonnay. They also make an estate 100% Cabernet Sauvignon called Cuv’ee Claire after their daughter Claire. Bill is the owner, vineyard manager, winemaker, and bottler of the wines there. They are a small production winery but produce some of the best Cabernet in the valley in my opinion.
